What’s the hold up? What’s the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his Shidoshi?

I feel like men are more romantic than women. When we get married we marry, like, one girl, ’cause we’re resistant the whole way until we meet one girl and we think I’d be an idiot if I didn’t marry this girl she’s so great. But it seems like girls get to a place where they just kinda pick the best option… ‘Oh he’s got a good job.’ I mean they spend their whole life looking for Prince Charming and then they marry the guy who’s got a good job and is gonna stick around.
Hey, you wanna hear a story, about this boy, he owned a dairy farm, see, and his ol’ ma, she was kinda sick, you know. And the doctor, he called him over and said, ‘Uh, listen, your Ma, she’s just lyin’ there. She’s just so sick and she’s weakly. And uh, uh I want ya to try to persuade her to take a little brandy, see. Just to pick her spirits up, ya know.’ And, uh, ‘Ma’s a teetotaler,’ he says, ‘she, she wouldn’t touch a drop.’ ‘Well, I’ll tell ya what ya do, uh,’ that’s the Doc. ‘I’ll tell ya what ya do, uh, you bring in a fresh quart of milk every day. And you put some brandy in it, see. And you try that.’ So he did. And he doctored it all up with the brandy, fresh milk, and he gave it to his mama. And she drank a little bit of it. She didn’t, you know. So next day he brought it in again, and she drank a little more, you know. And so then, it went on that way. The third day, just a little more, and the fourth day, she was, you know, took a little bit more. And then finally, one week later, uh he gave her the milk and she just drank it down. Boy, she swallowed the whole, whole, whole thing, you know. And she called him over and she said, ‘Son, whatever you do, don’t sell that cow!’
Now Ms. Parker, don’t you believe what you read in all them newspapers. That’s the law talkin’ there. They want us to look big so they gonna look big when they catch us. And they ain’t gonna catch us. Cause I’m even better at runnin’ than I am at robbin’ banks. Shoot, if we’d done half that stuff they said we’d done in that paper, we’d be millionaires by now, wouldn’t we?…But Ms. Parker, this here’s the way we know best how to make money. But we gonna be quittin’ all this, as soon as the hard times are over. I can tell ya that. Why just the other night, me and Bonnie were talkin’. And we were talkin’ about the time we’re gonna settle down and get us a home. And uh, she says to me, she says, ‘You know, I couldn’t bear to live more than three miles from my precious Mother.’ Now how’d ya like that, Mother Parker?
Oh, I don’t want to do this any more. Honey, I can’t. Let’s just? Let’s have fun now! Let’s just go and go and go, because it’s over. There’s just too many things, too many things, too many things. Too many things. I wanna go for a walk. Let’s go for a walk.
I was fine, until I read your fucking book! It stirred shit up, you know? It reminded me how genuinely romantic I was, how I had so much hope in things, and now it’s like, I don’t believe in anything that relates to love. I don’t feel things for people anymore. In a way, I put all my romanticism into that one night, and I was never able to feel all this again. Like, somehow this night took things away from me and I expressed them to you, and you took them with you! It made me feel cold, like if love wasn’t for me!… You know what? Reality and love are almost contradictory for me. It’s funny. Every single of my ex’s, they’re now married! Men go out with me, we break up, and then they get married! And later they call me to thank me for teaching them what love is, and, and that I taught them to care and respect women!… You know, I want to kill them! Why didn’t they ask me to marry them? I would have said “No,” but at least they could have asked!! But it’s my fault, I know it’s my fault, because I never felt it was the right man. Never! But what does it mean the right man? The love of your life? The concept is absurd. The idea that we can only be complete with another person is evil! Right?!…You know, I guess I’ve been heart-broken too many times. And then I recovered. So now, you know, from the starts I make no effort because I know it’s not going to work out, I know it’s not going to work out.
Triumph complete, Judah. The race won. The enemy destroyed. … What do you think you see? The smashed body of a wretched animal. There’s enough of a man still left here for you to hate. Let me help you. … You think they’re dead? Your mother and sister? Dead? And the race over? It isn’t over Judah. They’re not dead. … Look for them in the valley of the lepers. If you can recognize them. … It goes on. It goes on Judah. The race is not over.
Don’t you think I realize what’s going on here, miss? Who do you think I am, huh? Don’t you think I know that if I was some hotshot from out of town that pulled inside here and you guys made a reservation mistake, I’d be the first one to get a room and I’d be upstairs relaxing right now. But I’m not some hotshot from out of town, I’m a small reporter from “Rolling Stone” magazine that’s in town to do an exclusive interview with Michael Jackson that’s gonna be picked up by every major magazine in the country. I was gonna call the article “Michael Jackson Is Sitting On Top of the World,” but now I think I might as well just call it “Michael Jackson Can Sit On Top of the World Just As Long As He Doesn’t Sit in the Beverly Palm Hotel ‘Cause There’s No Niggers Allowed in There!”
With your permission, I will speak now. You would honor me by translating. The Sky People have sent us a message… that they can take whatever they want. That no one can stop them. Well, we will send them a message. You ride out as fast as the wind can carry you. You tell the other clans to come. Tell them Toruk Macto calls to them! You fly now, with me! My brothers! Sisters! And we will show the Sky People… that they cannot take whatever they want! And that this… this is our land!
I’m not all gone, Grant. Just, going. There are things I wish would go away. But won’t. You know. Things we don’t talk about. You never left me. You still made love to me, despite disturbing demands elsewhere. But all those sandals, Grant. All those bare female toes. What could you do but be a part of the time you were a part of? All those pretty girls. Didn’t seem like anyone was willing to be left out. I think you did all right, compared to some of your colleagues. Those who left their wives and the women who wouldn’t put up with it. I think people are too demanding. People want to be in love every single day. What a liability. And then that silly girl. That silly girl Veronica. Girls that age are always going around saying they’re going to kill themselves. But that was that. Promised me a new life. We moved out here, that is exactly what you gave me. How long ago was that?
